Amici della Terra has been running an awareness campaign on methane emissions reduction since 2019. In 2020, a study on the national context was developed, and since 2021 a working group has been active, fostering dialogue among institutions, associations, and companies.

Thanks to the work of this group, a shared national strategy was published in 2023, with many of its principles and objectives reflected in proposals by the European Commission.

The first report on the implementation of the Regulation in Italy is currently in preparation, with the ambition of making it a European model. We actively contribute to the development and updating of the EU Methane Regulation Implementation Tracker, which monitors the progress of the Regulation’s implementation country by country.
